Alt Text Generator: OpenAI alt text in the Media Library
This extension is the Media Library specialist. Bulk-from-dashboard alt text also exists under AI SEO Tools. Here the hooks live on attachments: a generate button (default on) and auto-on-upload (default off).

Install the plugin from WordPress.org, enable this extension in the dashboard, then follow the steps on this page.
What it actually does
If both the button and auto-generation are disabled in AI options, the class returns early and registers nothing.
Queue options: king_addons_alt_text_pending_queue and king_addons_alt_text_processing. Cron hook king_addons_process_alt_text_queue. Batch size 1, retry limit 3, 5 second delay between batches — the code comments say this is to respect rate limits.
The model request sends the image URL to OpenAI and writes the returned text into the attachment alt field.
Where to find it in WordPress
King Addons → AI Settings (API key). Enable the Alt Text Generator extension. In Media Library, use the generate control on an image. Auto-on-upload is enable_ai_alt_text_auto_generation in king_addons_ai_options (default false).
How to set it up
- Store an OpenAI key. AI Settings. The UI reports needs_setup without it.
- Leave the button enabled. Default is on. Turn on auto-generation only if you want every upload queued.
- Open an image in Media Library. Run generate on one file, or let auto-upload enqueue new files.
- Let cron drain the queue. Do not expect 200 images in one HTTP request.
