Header & Footer Builder: replace theme chrome with Elementor

Header & Footer Builder does not restyle your theme’s header.php. It saves Elementor templates and prints them where the theme header or footer would have been, using a compatibility method you pick in Display Settings.

What it actually does

Each template has a type of Header or Footer. You design it in Elementor like any page: logo, Mega Menu, search, cart icon, columns.

Display rules include and exclude locations (entire site, specific pages, and extra targeting that is Pro). Sticky and transparent behavior live on the template settings, not on a widget.

Display Settings registers king_addons_el_hf_compatibility_option — Methods to display header and footer. Those methods exist because themes hook headers differently (Hello Elementor vs classic themes). If the header does not replace, switch method here before assuming the template is broken.

Where to find it in WordPress

King Addons → Dashboard → enable Header & Footer Builder. Open the Header & Footer admin menu (dashicon align-full-width). Display Settings is a submenu on the same post type.

How to set it up

  1. Enable the builder. Turn on Header & Footer Builder in the dashboard.
  2. Create a Header template. In Header & Footer, add a template and set type to Header. Edit with Elementor.
  3. Assign display rules. Choose where it replaces the theme header. Publish, then view a front-end page, not only the canvas.
  4. Repeat for Footer. Same flow with type Footer. Keep one active header and one footer per location unless you split by condition.
  5. Fix theme conflicts. If the theme header still shows, open Display Settings and try another display method.

Controls that change behavior

Notes from the implementation

The builder itself is available on the free plugin. Extra targeting rules are Pro. Product site: kingaddons.com.

FAQ

Will this work without Elementor Pro Theme Builder?

Yes. This is King Addons’ own header/footer injector, not Elementor Pro Theme Builder.

The theme header still shows. Why?

The compatibility method may not match the theme. Change it under Display Settings.

Can I use Mega Menu in the header?

Yes. The header is a normal Elementor document — drop King Addons widgets onto it.
