Cookie Consent: category banner stored in WordPress options
Cookie Consent prints a banner from king_addons_cookie_consent_options. It is a notice and preference UI. It does not automatically block every third-party script on your site unless you wire those scripts to the categories.
Get King Addons
Install the plugin from WordPress.org, enable this extension in the dashboard, then follow the steps on this page.
What it actually does
Category keys in the plugin: Strictly necessary, Analytics, Marketing, Other — each with description and default state.
Other options: mode, region targeting / custom regions, consent lifetime, policy version, template, title, privacy label/URL, cookie policy label/URL, buttons (accept, reject, settings, save), layout preset, position, width, animation, shadow, radius, colors.
Pro gates extra targeting and logs in the same admin UI.
Where to find it in WordPress
Enable Cookie Consent in the dashboard. Open its King Addons settings screen (admin page with the V3 design). Toggle enabled there too.
How to set it up
- Enable the extension. Dashboard, then the Cookie Consent settings page.
- Write real policy URLs. Privacy and cookie policy links on the banner.
- Set categories. Leave necessary always on; decide defaults for analytics/marketing/other.
- Pick layout and position. Preset, position, colors. Preview logged-out on the front end.
- Bump policy version. When the policy changes, a new version re-prompts visitors.
Controls that change behavior
| Control | What the plugin does |
|---|---|
| Categories | Necessary / Analytics / Marketing / Other. |
| Consent lifetime | How long the stored choice lasts. |
| Policy version | Increment to ask again after legal copy changes. |
| Region targeting | Limit where the bar shows (Pro/custom regions in options). |
When this is the right tool
- A first-party cookie notice with accept/reject/settings.
- Sites that already categorize scripts and need a WordPress-native bar.
Notes from the implementation
King Addons is not your DPO. Pair the banner with how you actually load analytics. kingaddons.com.
FAQ
Does this block Google Analytics automatically?
Only if you load analytics behind the Analytics category. The banner stores consent; it is not a full CMP for every plugin.
Do I need a cookie plugin plus this?
If this banner is on, do not run a second banner that fights the same cookie.
