Popup Builder for Elementor: triggers, layout, and display rules

Popup Builder is not a widget you drop on a page. It registers a popup document, opens it in Elementor, and shows it on the front end when your trigger and conditions match.

What it actually does

The extension stores each popup as its own document. Content is a normal Elementor layout (form, image, heading, button). Timing and geometry live on the popup’s Elementor settings: Show Again Delay, Delay after Page Load (sec), Scroll Progress (in %), Element Selector, Select Date, and Inactivity Time (sec).

Layout controls include Display As, Width, Height / Custom Height, Horizontal Align, Vertical Align, Content Align, and Entrance Animation (the control label in PHP is “Entance Animation”).

Display conditions decide which URLs can show the popup. The free plugin covers site-wide display. Finer archive and single rules are gated as Pro in the same conditions UI.

This is different from the Popup widget, which is an on-canvas modal you place yourself. Use the builder when one popup should follow visitors across many pages.

Where to find it in WordPress

King Addons → Dashboard → enable Popup Builder. A top-level Popup Builder menu appears. Create a popup, then use Edit Popup (Elementor) and Manage Conditions.

How to set it up

  1. Enable the extension. Turn on Popup Builder in the King Addons dashboard so the admin menu is registered.
  2. Create the document. Open Popup Builder, add a popup, and give it a title you will recognize in the list.
  3. Design in Elementor. Click Edit Popup. Build the content like a small page, then publish the popup document.
  4. Set when it opens. In the popup’s Elementor settings, pick a trigger: after load, after scroll percent, after inactivity, on a date, or when a selector is in view.
  5. Set where it opens. Use Manage Conditions. Preview on the live site — the Elementor canvas does not run the same front-end trigger logic.

Controls that change behavior

ControlWhat the plugin does
Show Again DelayHow long before the same visitor can see the popup again.
Delay after Page LoadSeconds to wait after the page loads before the load trigger fires.
Scroll ProgressOpens after the visitor scrolls this percentage of the page.
Element SelectorOpens when a matching CSS selector enters the viewport.
Inactivity TimeOpens after the visitor is idle for this many seconds.
Display As / size / alignModal vs other display modes, width, height, and alignment of the box.
Free vs Pro. Site-wide conditions ship on free. Archive/single targeting and some extra condition rows are Pro (Freemius), not Elementor Pro.

When this is the right tool

Notes from the implementation

If nothing appears, confirm the extension is on, the popup is published, conditions include the URL you are testing, and you are not inside the delay cookie window from a previous view.

Get the plugin on WordPress.org.

FAQ

Is Popup Builder the same as the Popup widget?

No. The widget is a modal you drop onto one layout. Popup Builder is a site-level document with triggers and conditions.

Do I need Elementor Pro for popups?

No. King Addons Popup Builder runs on free Elementor. King Addons Pro unlocks extra display conditions.

Why does the popup show in the editor but not on the site?

Triggers and cookies run on the front end. Check conditions, publish status, and Show Again Delay.
